What Makes Few Teachers Great?

Columnist Paul Greenberg wrote an article about Andrea McKenna, the only teacher in Arkansas to receive a Milken award, the highest honor an American teacher can receive, which then prompted Greenberg to ask: What makes a great teacher?

He talks about middle school teacher McKenna, but also the greats in various fields, arguing it’s the unique talents people are born with that make them rise to the top of their specific field.  It’s something that can’t be assembled, manufactured, or replaced by a computer.  What do you think?  What makes a great teacher?
