Van der Sloot Sentenced, Holloway Declared Legally Dead

What a sad example of young lives cut short.  Joran Van der Sloot was sentenced to 28 years for the 2010 murder of student Stephany Flores.  Her death occurred 5 years to the day American Natalee Holloway went missing on her high school senior trip to Aruba.  Though Van der Sloot was never charged with  that crime, Holloway’s mother would like to see him extradited to the United States on other charges.  In what must have been a bittersweet milestone, Natalee Holloway was also declared legally dead Thursday, 6 1/2 years after she disappeared.  The last known person she was seen with leaving a nightclub was Joran Van der Sloot.
