School’s back and attention turns to academics once more. With state and local budget cuts, however, large class sizes can mean less time with the teacher. Parents turn to tutors for many reasons, but giving children individualized attention is still at the top of the list. And who couldn’t use that?
Jinny Vroom is a fourth grade teacher at Sandra Gallardo Elementary in Folsom, but took time off from teaching to tutor when her own two kids were young. As a credentialed teacher, parents sought her out to tutor their elementary and middle- grade children. During her eight years tutoring, Jinny saw students experience countless benefits and explains why it’s an effective tool:
