Somali Children Forced to be Soldiers

“An estimated 2,000 children were abducted by Al-Shabaab in 2010 for military training in different camps in southern Somalia. An increasingly large number of these children are reportedly used by the insurgent groups to fight against the Government and troops of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in Mogadishu, and, as a result, many of these children are killed, injured or captured by the armed forces or other armed groups.”

In the past few months, the situation for children in Somalia has only grown more dire.  Read more at un.org about Children and Armed Conflict in Somalia.
