Sad for All of Arnold’s Children

Now that the mysterious 14 year old boy’s name has been fed to the ravenous media, you know as well as I do this poor, innocent kid’s life will be shrouded in scandal forever.  I don’t know for certain what this kid’s life has been like up to now, but I’m sure he has friends, teachers, neighbors and acquaintances.  From now on they will know him  as Arnold’s “secret” and the reason Arnold and Maria broke up.

I was 14 when my own parents divorced and it was a very confusing time. 14 is when kids are naturally self-conscious, when everything goes back in their minds to “me.”  When kids are 14 they don’t want to stand out from the rest of the flock- they want to blend in.  My heart pains for this kid.  I hope someone can get him to understand that he is not culpable for any of this, but then again we live in such a time when lives can be smeared in an instant through the rapidity and all-encompassing machine called the internet, let alone how a 14 year-old naturally thinks anyways.

I also feel for the  4 Schwarzenegger/ Shriver children, who range in age from 13 to 21. They now have to live with the anger and embarrassment of their father’s selfish actions.  What can he possibly say to elevate himself again in their eyes? For many kids in the teen years those feelings of anger and embarrassment are drawn inward, manifesting into shame. With that shame, poor choices and acting out often occurs.

Instead of looking at the scandal of this media circus, not to mention the supposed adults involved, I wish all of the attention would be brought completely to the 5 children and the help they are just beginning to surely need.  If I were Arnold, I would devote the rest of my life making amends to those 5 children, and would never be caught in the limelight again.

I agree with everything you said!! His selfish actions have destroyed his family; how sad!

I’ve been wondering how couples who do stay together after indfidelity survive, what I could forgive, and what I could not forgive. I also think it’s interesting that we continue to be surprised when the “other woman” is not as attractive as the wife. Christie Brinkley, Elin Nordegren (Tiger Woods’ wife), and Halle Berry are all gorgeous women whose husbands have cheated on them. The men are obviously not seeking a more attractive woman, so what is it that was irresistable to them? just another conquest? a fling? a chance to prove that someone else finds them desirable? the opportunity presented itself and they just can’t say no? I don’t know.
