Shooting at Ohio School Leaves 3 Children Dead

When teenager T.J. Lane open fired at 7:30 am Monday morning at Chardon High School in Ohio, technology helped and hindered.  Some students say they didn’t know what was actually happening until they received texts and emails from their concerned parents, while others say seeing rumors fly on social networking sites (that were later proven untrue) was unsettling.  In the end, student Daniel Parmertor was pronounced dead, 2 others died later at the hospital and one more student remains severely wounded.  Details of Lane’s violent background are also coming to light.

Why are school shootings now a recurrent nightmare and what will make them stop?  Why are the shooters always boys?  A piece I wrote last year about the Norway killer and depression comes to mind.  Read it here

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this tragedy.
