Play 2 Truths and a Lie

2 Truths and a LieDo you try for creative ways to find out about your kids’ day but “How was your day?” or “What did you learn at school?” don’t get the colorful responses you expect?

Now that we’re back to school we’ve started playing “2 Truths and a Lie” about our days to reconnect.

“Won’t that encourage lying?” my sister asked.  I actually think it encourages imagination and the game is also sure to liven up dinner table time too.

Model for your kids how to play the game- tell them to think through all 3 things before saying them so it’s hard to tell which one is not the truth.

Here was mine for today: 1) I baked brownies.  2) I cut my finger. 3) I practiced my guitar outside.  Each of my 3 older kids (ages 6, 8, and 10) guessed a different one, and my 4 year old didn’t get to vote because she was with me all day, but sure felt superior because she knew the right answer.

Here was my 3rd grader’s: 1) I ate pizza. 2) Someone got stung by a bee. 3)Our teacher gave us popsicles.

I recommend this game for kids 5 and over- they do know the difference between make believe and reality by then.
