Parents Plan to Leave Kids Behind if Deported

Alabama’s passage of HB 56 earlier this month, the law that grants schools and work places the right to ask for citizenship papers, has many undocumented parents scrambling to make plans for their children should they be deported.  Officials say the growing trend is to leave their children behind, doing the paper work now to insure friends and neighbors will be recognized as their kids’ guardians later.

HB 56 will stay in effect until at least November 29th- the earliest it could be appealed.  Read more background on HB 56 posted back on October 1st.
