Connecticut Man Convicted for ’07 Murder of Mother and 2 Girls

It’s hard to believe the horrific murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters, Hayley 17 and Michaela 11, happened 4 years ago.  It’s been 4 years that an innocent mother and her two precious daughters were senselessly tortured and murdered by two strangers, yet the lone survivor of the attack, the father of the family, William Petit, has had to live with such unspeakable grief for what must feel like an eternity.

On Thursday, the second defendant, Joshua Komisarjevsky, was convicted of all 17 charges he faced, including murder and sexual assault; he now awaits sentencing.  His co-defendant, Steven Hayes, was convicted last year and sits on Death Row.

One of Petit’s comments in this story is that he knows sexual predation was one motive in his family’s attack.  “I thought a thousand times what would have been different if I had two sons instead of two daughters,” Petit said.

Our thoughts are with you, Mr. Petit.
